MISSION STATEMENT

The Music Department is designed to empower Kingdom objectives in building the lives of its constituency through music excellence.  This ministry will mentor independent and communal partnership with churches, pastors, and music ministry leaders.  Through the aid of an eclectic professional music staff, we offer teaching, training, and consultations to our churches. We also model ministry performances through a triune group of choirs (ADULT, YOUTH, and CHILDREN) who are always available to provide music for General Missionary Baptist State Convention activities and exterior partnerships in the faith community.

STATE MUSIC DEPARTMENT GOALS

   1. PAY homage to:

  • the power of God through the fellowship of faith music,

  • the integrity of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs and,

  • the intimate communion of praise and worship.

   2. LAY hold to the physicality of making music through sound skilled practice and  performance technique experiences.

   3. SAY the truth of the Word in repertoire selection then operate with godly spirit of musicality together.

   4. STAY focused on Kingdom Purpose while serving the progressive developmental music ministry needs for   our churches.

   5. PRAY for purity of motive while maximizing music ministry with a spirit of Excellence.

   6. PARTNER with local and neighborhood pastors, churches, schools, and the faith music ‘community-at-large’ to effect spiritual     growth and positively influence the holistic development of a productive humanity.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES

  • We recognize and glorify God as the object of our worship and praise.  We also strive to honor and cooperate with the Holy Spirit in utilizing our musical gifts and talents.

  • We partner with pastoral and music ministry leaders to communicate information regarding available personnel, resources, and supplies needed for music enhancement.

  • We provide opportunities for churches to schedule music workshops, conferences, and in-choir rehearsal consultations for independent churches and/or a community of churches.

  • We are formulating a ‘Christian network of state-wide music specialist’ according to gifts and talents.  This network will serve as a catalyst for churches to identify teaching or training vendors who offer service in music education or specialized instruction.

  • We continue organizing the ‘sharing music ministry network’ whereby notifications of scheduled local, state-wide and national music ministry opportunities and specific music events may be communicated to its constituents in our church ministry community. This avenue of communication can also foster cohesive loving relationships through fellowship with one another while Kingdom building together.
